FAQs

Below is a list of FAQs. Feel free to contact us with additional questions.

Is IMG Projects and NFT platform?

No, we license the rights of artists' digital images for commercial use such as in marketing and advertising. The financial transactions are all in USD. The buyer receives a jpg. Think of it as a stock image site that has museum quality artworks by professional artists.

Is the actual artwork for sale?

The artist can choose if they would like the original artwork to be for sale as well as the digital image. The artist will be responsible for shipping the artwork, insurance and can attest to the quality of the physical piece.

Can the purchaser alter or crop the images?

Does the artist get credited for the artwork when it is used?

It is up to the downloader, but it us recommended.

Does IMG represent artists?

No, IMG does not exclusively represent artists. We just help them sell the rights to the images.

Can any artist participate?

All artists working in all media (painting, drawing, sculpture, video, etc.) are encouraged to submit works for review by the IMG staff, however not all artwork will be accepted. Work will be evaluated for artistic merit, quality and contextual relevance to themes that will play well in commercial applications. Artists can submit one of two ways: (1) Presented in an exhibition by a curator. (2) Submitted directly to the IMG site.

Note: If an artist has a contact with a gallery, the artist can still participate, however, it is recommended to touch base with the gallery to look at the contact terms and work out additional commission structures. IMG is happy to work with galleries.

Can any curator participate?

We encourage curators to submit exhibition ideas for consideration by the IMG staff. All experience levels are welcome. Similar to artists, the concept of the exhibition will be evaluated for artistic merit, quality and contextual relevance that will play well in commercial applications. We support and encourage curators to submit multiple ideas and get creative! We believe the curatorial talent is essential to IMG.

What is the difference between rights managed and royalty free and “market buyout”?

Royalty free images mean that there is only one, fixed cost, which allows unlimited use of the image by the purchaser as well as unlimited number of purchasers. This is considered more economical for brands, but it is not exclusive. As an artist you may get multiple downloads of the same image, where in Rights managed, you will most likely get fewer downloads, but at a higher cost.

Rights Managed (RM) Images – Rights managed images are those that are licensed for use temporarily, with pricing based on a per-use basis. Licensing fees may be determined based on the estimated number of individuals who will potentially see the image.

Rights managed is generally more expensive and while the quality is higher, overall there is a smaller selection to choose from.

An image that is rights managed has the option to offer “a market buyout” which  is when a purchaser takes the image off the market so no one else can use it. This is the highest price.

There are benefits to all options. The artist can designate the license for each image. For artists, it is recommended to consider having some royalty free options as well as rights managed to have offerings at multiple price points.

What is the pricing structure?

See pricing table for image downloads.

For original artworks sales, use typical gallery market pricing.
High quality prints range from $300 - $2500

What percentage of sales do artists receive?

Our royalty distribution is as follows:

Digital download sales:  40% go to the artist (30% curator, 30% IMG).

Original artwork: 50% of original artwork sales go to the artist. (Artist is responsible for shipment).

High Quality Prints: 50% of sales go to the artist (platform and artist split print on demand fulfillment costs). How much is the fullfilment cost? Ranging from $25 for small (4x6”) prints to $100 for large prints

How many downloads can one image have?

There can be an infinite number of downloads for the same image unless the purchaser selects the “market buyout” option which would take the image off the market for an additional fee.

Who is the audience purchasing the images?

Our audience is composed of (but not limited to) creative, branding and marketing professionals from around the globe who seek images that are unique, tell compelling visual stories and elevate their brand. These professionals are looking beyond typical stock images seen in traditional stock image image pools. IMG streamlines the image search and licensing process for these professionals to make the rights to artwork more accessible.

Do you work with Galleries?

Absolutely, we look forward to the opportunity.

Do you work with Artist estates?
